Fuego & Acatenango Volcano Camping Tour (2 Days)

Fuego Volcano: 3763 altitude.
The climbing route is arduous to ascend, because it starts at 1400 m near Alotenango (about 36 x 2) and ascends to Fuego’s summit in about 9 km traversing along the Quebrada San Jose, along a trail that appears on the top of map. It takes 8-10 hours of hard work.

Acatenango Volcano: 3936 altitude.
Is a strato volcano in Guatemala, close to the city of Antigua. The volcano has two peaks, Pico Mayor (Highest Peak) and Yepocapa (3,880 m) which is also known as Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters). Acatenango is joined with Volcán de Fuego and collectively the volcano complex is known as La Horqueta.

Itineraries

Day 1

Your Plan

Depart from Antigua to San Juan Alotenango, where you will take a brief before to start to climbing up, it takes around 6 or 7 hours, all depends your physic condition. You will rest there and wait for the sunset at the west side that it takes a beautiful view and take pictures. We arrive to Cumbre Yepocapa or Las tres Marias , with an altitude of 3,800 m.s.n.m. and we start to camp. You can cook your food and will do other activities with the guide.

Day 2

Time : 3:30 am

Your Plan

You will be picked up and start to climb to Acatenango Volcano in order to appreciate the sunrise at the East side.

Day 2

Time : 6:30 am

Your Plan

We descend to the camp, cook and eat our breakfast in the Camp.

Day 2

Time : 1:00 pm

Return to Alotenango to make our way back to Antigua Guatemala
